Psalm 94

New Mercury copy

Sorcerer's Light

1. O Lord God, to whom vengeance belongeth; O God, to whom vengeance belongeth; show thyself

2. Lift up thyself, thou judge of the Earth: render a reward to the proud.

3. Lord, how long shall the wicked, how long shall the wicked triumph?

4. How long shall they utter and speak hard things? And all the workers of iniquity boast themselves?.

5 They break in pieces thy people. O Lord, and afflict thine heritage.

6. They slay the widow and the stranger, and murder the fatherless.

7. Yet they say, The Lord shall not see, neither shall the God of Jacob regard it

8. Understand, ye brutish among the people, and ye fools, when will ye be wise?

9. He that planted the ear, shall he not hear? He that formed the eye, shall he not see?

10. He that chastieth the heathen, shall not he correct? He that teacheth man knowledge, shall not he know?

11. The Lord knoweth the thoughts of man, that they are vanity.

12. Blessed is the man whom thou chastenest, O Lord, and teachest him out of the law.

13. That thou mayest give him rest from the days of adversity, until the pit be digged for the wicked.

14. For the Lord will not cast off his people, neither will he forsake his inheritance.

15. But Judgement shall return unto righteousness: and all the upright in heart shall follow it.

16. Who will rise up for me against the evil-doers? Or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity?

17. Unless the LordΒ  had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence.

18. When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O Lord, help me up.

19. In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.

20. Shall the throne of iniquity have fellowship with thee, which frameth mischief by a law?

21. They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.

22. But the Lord is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.

23. And he shall bring upon them their own iniquity, and shall cut them off in their wickedness; the Lord our God shall cut them off.

  1. This reminds me of Krishna and Arjuna. I hope I spelled their names correctly, from the Bhagavad Gita. I did not read the whole Bhagavad Gita – parts were ‘read aloud’ by a translator (who made this is his life’s work) to me and my husband as well as a group of people, last year. Each one of the sacred texts could take lifetimes to get ‘closer’ to even understanding a smidgen. Thank God for that rock to hold onto, and for the Mother Goddess to hold us peacefully until we get all our ‘crying out’ and return to stillness and unity with God.

    • Hey Deanne,

Welcome to Dewin’s πŸ™‚ I’m delighted by your visit.

The shine from your rose radiates a wonderful message. The Book of Psalms has offered artists inspiration for hundreds of years. It is a revealing book, a book expressing human emotions and experiences like love, pain, fear, doubt, and the joy of rising hope.

I see the depth of your loving impression of God expressed within the sentiments of your poetry. Your words are always written with such feeling and intensity, always encouraging, sincere and true.

      • Thank you Dewin! You’re so amazing … Are you an angel? I feel a strange connection to you ( almost like a kindred spirit) yet I know not much about you apart from your writings that you share and your breathtaking comments and replies . Anyway, stay awesome. I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Godspeed 🌻

      • Thank you πŸ™‚ We are all angels and emissaries, each a slinter from the jewel of the greater Self, and each equally resplendent in their own shine.

‘I know not much about you…’. I’m not sure I do either sometimes! πŸ™‚

        Have a wonderful week.
